Orange Park Medical Center September 11, 2019

Orange Park, FL - Today a couple said their vows in a hospital room at Orange Park Medical Center. The couple decided to get remarried after learning 73-year old Brian Beni would be transitioning to hospice care later this evening. Beni had been admitted to the hospital after a long fight against lung cancer. The staff at Orange Park Medical Center created an intimate wedding ceremony during their last hours at the hospital.

Lynn and Brian Beni met at the age of thirteen and reconnected twelve years ago, when they fell in love and got married. The staff at Orange Park Medical Center played the song from their first wedding and helped Beni be as comfortable as possible while they took new vows and performed a sand ceremony. The hospital also provided dessert by candlelight.

Patient Care Technician Rose Burnell was in attendance at the wedding. Burnell cared for Beni twelve years ago during his first hospital stay at Orange Park Medical Center and has cared for him many times over the years at Orange Park Medical Center. She was coincidentally assigned to care for Beni today and helped organize the special moment for the happy couple.
