The Transitional Year Residency Program at Orange Park Medical Center is an ACGME accredited one-year training program with 14 PGY One Residents. The sponsoring programs for the Transitional Year program are Internal Medicine and Family Medicine residency programs.
The Orange Park Transitional year Residency Program, provide residents with a balanced year in multiple clinical disciplines and in preparation for their chosen categorical or advanced residency program.
Residents through their clinical rotations will be instructed on fundamental clinical skills, diagnosing and managing a broad range of clinical problems through direct patient care.
Residents will apply their knowledge in basic and clinical sciences, interpersonal and communication skills to provide outstanding and compassionate care that will treat diseases as well as promote health in the community. Residents will be held to the highest standard of professionalism and system based practice as well as an evidence based approach to promote health care.
Rotations will be in 4 week blocks:
- General Medicine floor service 4 blocks
- ICU (Medical/Trauma) service 1 block
- Emergency Medicine 1 block
- Ambulatory Internal medicine or Family Medicine 2 blocks
- Electives 4 blocks
- Vacation 1 block
Electives will be in the following Specialties:
- Family Medicine out patient
- Hematology / Oncology
- Infectious Disease
- Medical ICU
- Neurology / Interventional Neurolo
- Palliative care
- Physical Medicine and Rehab
