Birthing Suite Tours and/or Early Pregnacy Class

The free Early Pregnancy Class ideally should be attended in the first months of pregnancy.  It is important to enroll as soon as your physician confirms your pregnancy.  In addition to the class, a free tour of the Birthing Suites is conducted on the same date.  The tour is conducted first, which allows for those not pregnant or in the later trimesters to leave prior to the Early Pregnancy Class.

Prenatal and Cesarean Section Classes

This series of classes, usually attended in the seventh month of pregnancy, includes information regarding labor, delivery, (to include vaginal, Cesarean section, and complications of delivery), post-partum, and care of the newborn.  Upon availability, the newborn class includes a question and answer phase with a local Pediatric/Family physician.  The cost of the series of classes is only $15.00 per couple.  

Cesarean Section Class Only

This is the second in a series of three classes to be attended in the seventh month of pregnancy. It is encouraged for all fathers, who wish to accompany the mother to the operating room in the event of a Cesarean section, whether planned or if the need arises during advanced labor.

Board Certified Lactation Consultant

We are dedicated to providing our families with the latest knowledge and breastfeeding techniques available today.  This is why Orange Park Medical Center provides you with the unique resource of a Board Certified Lactation Consultant, as well as breastfeeding resource nurses that are here to assist with any breastfeeding questions or concerns.  Our Lactation Consultant is available, upon request, for inpatient and outpatient consultations and can be reached through voice mail at (904) 639-2543.

Prenatal Breast Feeding Class

Taught monthly by our Board Certified Lactation Consultant, these classes are highly informative and will promote preparation techniques to help ensure that your breastfeeding experience will be fulfilling and successful.  These classes are held the third Monday of each month from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.  These classes are free of charge but do require advance registration by calling the Breastfeeding Hotline at (904) 639-2543 

Parenting  Support Group

Babies hold new and exciting experiences for all of us.  After the birth of your "Bundle of Joy" and discharge from the hospital, we offer support meetings that include educational information and interaction with other Moms and/or Dads and babies sharing similar experiences. Come join us the third Thursday of each month from 11:00 am-12:00 pm in the Women's Center. 

Sibling  Preparedness Class

We understand that the birth of your baby will be a special addition to your whole family. Our Sibling Preparedness Classes are unique in that they can help ease the transition of the new baby into your already established family.  These classes, for children three through eleven years of age, are scheduled  every other month.  They are held on Monday evenings from 5:45pm - 7:00 pm.  This informative but fun class encourages the soon-to-be Big Brothers and Sisters to interact safely with the newborn. Concerns regarding jealousy are sensitively explored through animated video and brief discussion.  These classes are free of charge but advanced registration is required.  Please call (904) 639-8615 to register for your class.
