Affiliated Oncology Services
Orange Park Medical Center has medical oncologists and radiation oncologists on staff that are part of the Integrated Community Oncology Network (ICON). Medical oncologists specialize in treating cancer patients with anticancer drugs (chemotherapy). Radiation oncologists specialize in using radiation therapy to treat cancer. These physicians provide comprehensive cancer care to thousands of patients throughout Northeast Florida, including those with lung cancer.
CyberKnife
Lung cancer patients who may benefit from radiation treatment may be referred to the CyberKnife Cancer Center at our sister hospital, Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville. Radiosurgery with CyberKnife gives doctors and patients a life-saving option for treating difficult tumors and lesions. CyberKnife radiosurgery is designed to treat cancer and other tumors anywhere in the body without invasive surgery. Because of the incredible precision of the radiation beams, the CyberKnife System is able to reduce harm to the critical structures surrounding the lesion. This increases safety and helps reduce side effects.
