At Orange Park Medical Center's Emergency Department, we are here when you need us most. Treating approximately 80,000 patients each year we consider it a privilege as well as a responsibility to make sure that we provide exemplary service to every patient who entrusts us with their care.
Our Provisional Level Two Trauma Center provides 44 treatment bays designed to meet the needs of any emergency. Our patients experience the latest technology including two state–of–the–art trauma rooms designed to deliver life saving care during the golden hour of a traumatic event. In addition, two state-of-the-art Interventional Cardiovascular Catheterization labs are available to meet the needs of the cardiac patient with the ability to perform the full arm of emergent and elective cardiac interventions including angioplasty, and STENT placement.
Our Emergency Department is staffed 24-hours-a-day with a team of health care professionals experienced in caring for patients with a variety of medical and surgical emergencies. The physicians in the Emergency Department are board-certified. They enjoy exceptional rapport with Orange Park Medical Center's medical staff, referring physicians and the counties' Emergency Medical Services. The nursing staff is handpicked, specially trained and permanently assigned to the department. Emergency Department nursing staffs are credentialed with, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC).
To better serve our patients, we have expanded and renovated our Emergency Department. The department has nearly doubled in size, adding 13,000 square feet of new space. Four of the new ER rooms are able to quickly convert to accommodate the needs of psychiatric patients.
The staff is qualified to provide a full range of medical care for patients of all ages with all types of medical problems, from minor illnesses and injuries to life-threatening emergencies. The doctors and nurses are supported by a full complement of ancillary services including the latest in imaging such as the 64-slice CT scan, on-site laboratory and emergency response support to include a decontamination tent and air medical services transport.
In addition, the Emergency Department operates in a completely electronic environment, from the automated kiosk registration system to patient documentation. Clinicians utilize bar code medication administration, computerized physician order entry and a real time digital/electronic x-ray picture archiving system with portable examination preview.
The Emergency Department offers bedside registration and discharge, keeping patients from longer waits before and after treatment. At Orange Park Medical Center, our length of stay is below the national average for an emergency room visit.
